Description Digital painting-thingy of a Dhole, or Asiatic Wild Dog.

I certain of the lesser-sung canids of the world (these guys, Maned Wolves, and Painted Dogs, specifically). Enough with those boring ol' grey wolves! Let's have some rare n' pretty.

...Anyway, just playing around with digital airbrushing-ness. Been a while since I've tried anything this meticulous and detailed. But sorry about the background, I just didn't want the poor guy floating and pawless.

They are very pretty, the Dholes, Painted Dogs, & Mained Wolves. I know cuz I just did a dogpile image search for them! Dogpile Lookin' at "dogs" on dogpile! [link] it's a search engine & you can use it to look for more then just canids (you can look for anime pics & other random stuff too)

PS

painted dogs in the image search brings up the actual painted dogs, + paintings of domesticated dogs as well as some "painted cats" they are just house cats people painted, but quite amusing to look at!

I love these!!! Maned wolves are my favorite though, and then painted dogs =3 I love to watch them at the zoo where I am, cause (when they aren't napping) they're so cute trotting around and playing with each other!!

And this digi-painting is phenomenal!! I thought it was a photo in the thumbnails =3

oooh very pretty. I do have a soft spot for boring ole grey wolves, but I also absolutely love the lesser known canids.

This is really well done and a nice break from your other styles, even though I love them much X3

It's a very realistic style, and the dog looks great. It really does look like a photo in the thumbnail. The only part the bothers me is his/her back left paw. It's almost the same color as the hock of the right leg, and that puts them visually on the same plane. It's like the dog has its back legs crossed, or that he back two legs are right next to each other. It's a bit confusing, even though our brain knows exactly what is what.
There just has to be a little more contrast between the two areas.

Believe it or not, in the reference pic I used, the spots in question WERE almost precisely the same colour. Even looking at the photo, I see the odd illusion you refer to...weird. It's less pronounced in the photo, though, because the background makes it pretty clear that the dhole is moving at an angle (there's other stuff, like a fallen branch, that I didn't include in the painting x_x). Here, it rather looks like he's moving in a straight, sideways line-- I'm sure that doesn't help.
