Description Just wanted to share some of the extra FASA rules I've crafted when running the FASA Doctor Who RPG. This allows you to quickly generate a setting a time and an advesary if you are strapped to make one.

In addition I just picked up the NEW Doctor Who RPG and am looking it through. I will always love the FASA version...warts and all, but this new one is very well written. I recommend it to any aspiring Time Lord.

Some is me. Some is from other game cocnepts which I've borrowed. Timelord was another Doctor Who RPG. It had some great ideas I adapted for FASA's version.

I saw the new version, what's the rules system like for it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Inspector97 In reply to LoneStranger [2010-01-28 03:50:30 +0000 UTC]

Has some similarity to the D6 systems of WEG or Guardians of Order. The game is based on talking not fighting so it's a very loose system. It would be excellent for some good genre feinds or RPG actors. The quality of the game is very high.

Interesting, I have...let's call it a couple of books for each system since I like both of those.

In my case the list for what I don't have for D6 and BESM is shorter.

It is difficult to obtain these games. Both companies are no more as far as I know. I loved BESM and FASA.

LoneStranger In reply to Inspector97 [2010-01-28 04:42:18 +0000 UTC]

WEG is effectively gone but yeah GoO is out of business. I was playing a lot of catch-up on Star Wars and getting most of the BESM stuff when it was out.

Also you're right, FASA shut down...damn about 10 years ago. Battletech and Shadowrun have managed to survive though.

Inspector97 In reply to LoneStranger [2010-01-28 04:51:22 +0000 UTC]

Yeah...the games evolved...but they aren't the same companies. Have to find all the old stuff....almost all my STAR WARS is off ebay

LoneStranger In reply to Inspector97 [2010-01-28 05:16:57 +0000 UTC]

Yeah Star Wars took a step backwards with Saga Edition. Too bad BESM didn't get picked up by anyone, and the power creep in Battletech weapons is interesting to be sure. Most of my Star Wars stuff is off the shelf from the publisher which I consider myself lucky to get especially now looking back.
