"looking for a well-built 18 to 30-year-old to be slaughtered and then consumed"In 2001 Bernd-Jurgen Brandes answered an advert posted by Armin Meiwes. They met, had some wine and some penis. In the end Brandes was slaughtered as consented and established beforehand.
As grotesque and horrific as the story of Meiwes is, the dilemma was that his 'slaughter' voluntarily and knowingly had participated in the act. However, Meiwes was convicted with a 8 1/2 year sentence for manslaughter, but later retrialed and ultimately convicted for murder and got life imprisonment.
To them it was a romance. To the rest of the world it was a gruesome brutality.

He is in prision because they believe he is dangerous for the society - That's the real reason for giving him an excuse of whole life in prision.
Anyway I do have one side of my mind that can see your perspective on this.
I just read about it today - I'm shocked and disgusted. 
But let's not forget something important, in suicide, in a fetish, in anything. Your brain will give you a false sense of security that death is not bad at all. If all those people were to use their brain for a second outside of their fetish - They wouldn't be willing to die for it.
Pyschology is not giving us good answers - When someone has a lot of problems, and thinks of suicide, he feels pleasure
I do understand the view point of this, and makes my brain hurt out of it.
If I were to be eaten by the woman I love the most, even I would be willing. But if I step outside of the fetish, It's a big NO.
Just thought I'd share my opinion on this creepy subjet.

But yes, of course they have him in prison deemed to dangerous for society. Technically he did kill someone and that is all that matter for the judicial system.
The funny thing is that his former neighbours said that they would not hesitate to let him look after their children again. He was always a nice guy and never hurt a fly. (An unwilling fly anyway. lol)
The psychology of this case is indeed mind-bending, but vanilla society and law always win. And our morals is so strongly against it.

Yes - And killing for it too. I'm strongly against Religion, It's my trigger point. I am not against fetishes in fact I have those!
As a straight person, you don't considere what those two felt. In order to understand them, I had to think "What if the killer is a woman?" "That's a lot better now!"
While dying for my own fetishes is tempting, I have to look outside of them, for the best choice, I wouldn't let myself die for them.
In my eyes, people who want to die has a false sense that It's what will please them the most. Just like those who want to suicide, it is proven that It's a false sense of pleasure, allowing people to die in most cases, and ridiculous cases for a short term pleasure such as a Fetish shouldn't be allowed. But dying for your country/family/etcetera is a whole different thing.
It's very funny - I fulfilled a fetish out of randomness, when the girl I liked at school, said to me: "Do you want me to eat you?" and I was like "Y-y-y-y-y-y-yes!" And she would bite my arm without hurting me, teasing me lol. - Random thing to share.
After six years using the Internet, I am just understanding the dangers of it, and the effect of it on humans. At first I was like "This place is heavens, free speech, people sharing my beliefs, millions of people with different opinions" but now It's like "There is every kind of shit out there, good and bad" we are expecting humans to have healthy mindsets, but we are just animals with desires at the end of the day, and this is a place for them to have their own space.
To me the problem is not that he killed a person, he sadistically butchered the hell out of him. I wouldn't trust him if I had, my children, lol.

Well, I'm the same. Mass religion is a death cult and fetishes doesn't hurt anyone (well, unless asked for).
The thing is that Meiwes (or his lover's) fetish wasn't to kill or to die. It was the act of slaughtering/being slaughtered and then eaten. Death was just a consequence of that. But this ultimate fantasy of theirs overshadowed that. The concept alone is very hard to grasp for most people, including me, but for them it was completion.
Meiwes got to consume his lover and have him forever be a part of him. And his lover (who was actually the dominant of the two) got his lover to consume him the way he desired.

OMG I watched a documentary about that story late one night.....man it was fascinating! I had a crazy dream that same night. I was hiding in this big old house, and a man was chasing me because he wanted to eat me. It was really vivid and realistic.....I woke up feeling a bit freaked out 
Even though it was quite a sick thing to do....I kinda felt sorry for Armin Meiwes, as the other guy was a willing participant. They taped the whole thing didn't they? It would be crazy to watch that tape.....I wonder if it's on the net???

Yeah, there are tapes that proves his consent, but since murder is illegal either way, it didn't matter. Personally I don't think he should have gotten such a harsh verdict. He never hurt anyone who didn't want to be, heh.
Who knows, there might be leakage of the video on the net, but I'm not sure if I want to see it. The german movie about Meiwes made me a little sick. lol
