Description
This giraffe was a willing participant, and was quite curious about my camera.I am very new to photography (and DeviantArt), and this is one of my first shots taken with this particular camera. Full view recommended.

I really like this, his posture makes him look very magestic and the black and white pallete really do him justice, especially against the empty sky.

I didn't care for the colour in the original photo so much (although I have other colour giraffe pictures in my gallery - here is one: [link] ) and I have a weird love for black and white photography. I thought I could get finer detailing on the hair by converting the picture to b&w and then upping the contrast a bit.

im impressed with that kodak. most of them dont get that good of image quality, nice photo on your part as well, you'll get even better as you take more photos.

I am slowly starting to get the itch to get something a little better than my Kodak point-and-shoot. But I am still not sure whether I want to be a Nikon or a Canon fanatic.

The shot is over sharpened; you can see the sharpening halo down the dark side of the neck and snout. Keep the same radius, just drop the amount.

Hmm, if I remember correctly, this was Georgina (a she -- the boy was much taller, but I can't really tell height in this shot) and she was about ten feet away at her closest. But I'm not sure how far she was away from me in this one. I guess I could take the camera information and calculate an approximate distance, but lets just say she was pretty close (and that I finally have a camera with decent zoom capability!)

I have a soft spot for giraffes, and I also have a soft spot for BW! What a great combination. The contrast on this photo is superb and brings out the giraffe.
