The rounds melted like crayons from heat and stuck to each other completely rendering the gun useless, sometimes causing them to all go off at once in the worst cases. sad to see such an amazing thing fade away into the past.. I'm bored with today's "innovations"... I'm sure its completely possible to fix it with the technology that exists now. poor little gun :/

The gun was too far ahead of ist time and the available technology.
The was a test in front of large audience from military and media. The guy from H&K stated that the stock was realy sturdy. As proof he slammed it against a concrete block....ok.....lets say his face turned ambarasingly red
Still no other company developed a working automatic gun for caseless amunition.
The greatest problem today are dwindling funds and that there large suplies of standard amunition. Introduce a new type of ammo and the existing are rendered useless.

Surely it was a fascinating design in every respect. Poor little gun

I think Wesley Snipes used one in Demolition man posing as a railgun.

I think it is the real deal. They have multiple prototypes on display. Mock ups are usually labeled as such.

What few G11's exist (among the hundreds of Prototype variants made), one exists in the Bundeswehr tank museum, the Bundeswehr infantry museum. The US Infantry museum, among other places. Not to mention the G11 bigger brother, the LMG 11
