I don't really "do" fan characters much anymore much in recent times but...I couldn't help myself. This is Kaya, a Wolf Quest fan-character and Niju's adopted sibling (both being raised by Nava). She uses she/they pronouns.
As you probably know, in my Wolf Quest universe, Niju was an orphan who was found and raised by a younger Nava. Nava, not having any pups of his own, initially trained Niju to be his heir and the eventual next leader of the clan. But as Niju started to grow older and, with that, more bold and power-hungry, Nava realized that he'd made a mistake and Niju was never mean to be the clan's next leader. While he never disowned Niju as his son and still loves him dearly, he did strip him of the heir title, hoping that, in time, a newer potential leader would appear.
Kaya came into Nava's and Niju's lives not much later after that. Niju was now a rambunctious young-adult who hated the fact that the future leader title had been stolen from him, and Nava found another young wolf without a clan of her own. Being the dad that he is, he decided to once again take them in, naming her Kaya and her becoming his new pup, being basically Niju's sibling by extension. However, Niju never took well to Kaya being a part of the family now, and instead rebuked her at every opportunity, seeing them as a threat to his potential future leader position.
Kaya, meanwhile, never wanted power; they simply wanted to be accepted by the clan and have a normal family life. Which Niju (and to a lesser extent his goons, Nuk, Yak and Sumac) made rather difficult. Nava did his best to try and reconcile the two siblings, but Niju made things downright impossible.
As Nava started to age and the caribou vanished, time started to tick and the pack's lack of a potential leader became more and more apparent, with many wolves of the pack being uneasy at this and especially Niju trying time and again to reclaim his heir role, still feeling he was destined for it because he is Nava's first pup. As Niju grew more violent and hateful towards Nava, this made Kaya all the more protective of their old father and mad at Niju.
What happens next is up in the air but let's just say there's a reason Kaya isn't present in Wolf Quest
