Oh, you dip it deep enough to (barely) submerge the hole? No wonder I feel like my pen doesn't have enough ink.
And how are you afraid to break Microns? I don't think those things can break.
Except the brush pens. Those tips are f**kin' WEAK.

Yeah. XD;; That'd be why. It takes a lot of experimenting to get the pressure right to get the flow to behave (I've, on accident, dropped an entire reservoir of ink on a single touch to the paper before. D: Not cool.), but that's basically it. If you dip too high, you'll have problems when your ink basically seals your nib into your pen, too, so just be careful about that. ;;
I'm afraid of breaking microns because, as a small child (as small children tend to do), I did break microns. Frequently. D: Who was stupid enough in my household to leave them lying around for me, I don't know. But I have a tendency to break them. I'm getting over it, but not fast enough.
And I laughed, because I have a set with a brush tip, and that's the only one I'm actually comfortable using. XD;;; I'll be on the lookout for breakage now, though!
I think variable-thickness tips are really the thing that's necessary for me. Otherwise the shake in my hands make thin lines look ridiculously failsome. D:
