Bitterness.

That was the only taste his tongue knew

Herbs.
Poultices.

Their pungent odor was all his nose could sense.

The darkness had come earlier in the week. Still it was here, bathing him in black nothingness.

Nothingness.
Perhaps that was where he was meant to be. Where she wanted him to be. And whatever she willed, he obeyed.

To be.
That's all he wanted. To have life urging his chest to rise and fall with each breath.
But this darkness...
It did not feel like life.
Not the life he knew.
...
The life he had known.

This life was one he knew no more.
One he would never know again.

When the sun rose, the darkness would be here again.
When the moon ran through its cycles in the sky, the darkness woud remain.
It would persist through to the following season, and the seasons after that.
The darkness was here to stay.

And the darkness

brought clarity.

Eztli ingested the herbs Ravka presented him for one of her experiments, and the toxins flowed through his body for many days and nights. They brough great illness, but they did not bring the young wolf death. As the days stretched on, he appeared to be healing... but there was one side-effect that would not leave him. The herbs have left Eztli permenantly blind. And while he had a hard time adjusting, as the moons go on, he finds himself adapting and growing more accostumned to his other senses. In fact, he is beginnign to beleive that there is a purpose for his blindness... It has brought him clarity.
