This is based on an original photo by markus weiler [link]Jungle Fairy by Benjamin Davey
Pencil on Paper A4
I wanted to try something a little different with this one. Rather than the normal insect wings I've modled these wings on dried leaves. I imagine they would provide better cover in the undergrowth where the jungle fairy lives.

It may happen. It is one of several drawings I am planning to revisit with acryllic when I have the time.

Really like this! Only wonderign as to why the background had to be a smudgy grey instead of white. I think white could have brought our her face and accentuated her wings. Then, now that I look at it closer. I think some more structure in the foliage in the background could have helped the picture too! The lady is beautifully drawn but she disappears into the picture. IF yo couldn only slightly organise the background (even if only there were continuous lines to follow becoming thicker and thinner) I think the whole could benefit.
I'm assuming this one is a bit smaller than the portraits in your gallery? I like it and it is promising, but if I see you other work I think if you develop this you are going to marvel at your self!

To be honest, I'd actually lost my patience with the picture when I got to doing the background and didn't really give it the attention I could have. I had no idea that it was going to become one of my most popular peices. The jungle fairy is a theme I am considering revisiting in colour at some point.

To take something original, take the essence of that and make something of your own of it, to be capable to do this is a gift, not too many share.
I love how you changed the back of her nose and her eyes to something more "elf-ish". And I love the sensual quality your drawing has got. Along with the great water effect it is impressively beautiful!
