Description The winter 1941 was fatal for the Germans. Their advance on whole Eastern Front has been stopped. Therefore, the Wehrmacht laid siege. The Soviets had the chance to change the tides of the war. And they used it.

Here, a lone early-production BT-7 with old, cyllindrical turret performs a recon outside Leningrad after a massive blizzard...

Very nice. And a command tank with the radio antennae. Great touch.

Beautiful picture but I think the trees in the background have too few details and look a bit unrealictic.

You made a great atmosphere on that picture. Very cold and snowy (the MG-42 with a dead soldier under the snow is a very lets say important detail, a big plus). The BT-7 is of high quality... only the back part of the turret wasnt conical on the older series. On the newer series the entire turret was of conical shape, but I guess you know that
Definitely a picture worth a fav.

I based on some artworks depicting early command BT-7's with BT-5 turrets with radio frame.

Thanks!

Riiight. Interesting is, how one can track most of russian tanks to one ancestor... BT-2
Or the similarity of T-34 with BTs... those are things I could chat hours about

JanBoruta In reply to A-Teivos [2006-11-09 06:47:28 +0000 UTC]

Not only BT-2... Even the Christie tank!

Well, that was NEARLY the same
The irony is that it was an american inventor who made it XD

The nature of the drawing resembles as if it was colored~

I like the sketchyness, the pines, the thick blanket of snow and the ice-mist on the running gear conveying motion. Very cool effect~

Poor Fritz though. Forward Tankist!

JanBoruta In reply to Sturmgeschutz [2006-10-15 17:19:16 +0000 UTC]

Something like that: "do: pya:hu:!", but vowels are spoken shortly, not long like in "boots". If you want more, um, "lessons" send me notes or email me or do what you want to

Cool! I will do so, I'll find fun stuff to say in Polish then ask for a translation. I'm going on a school retreat tomorrow but I'll be back Thursday, so I'll try to think of stuff by then.

i pity the foo' who manned that MG42! should've had with him a couple panzerschrek rockets.

but then again, that's just 'cause when it comes to WW2 on the eastern front i'm rootin for the germans.

Dunno, I really like this tank. It-is-not-yet the T-34 but some common features can be seen.

And the Bystrokhodnyi Tank seemed very proper to me for that image.

SimonLMoore In reply to JanBoruta [2006-10-07 08:45:01 +0000 UTC]

You can really see the development from the original Christies T3 tanks in the hull shape, its then very easy to trace developmet from the T3 through to the T34.
