I have a new website that is selling canvas wall art prints. I'm looking for work that would be appropriate for children's rooms - most of them will need some kind of saying, like Be Brave little one, Dream Big little one, Be kind little one, you are loved, etc.  I particularly like the idea of little girls and a fairy princess. Do you have any work that would be appropriate for this project? Would you be interested in working on it? If so, please contact me at:jcazzola@att.net or support@wowavenue.com

Hope to hear from you,
Jolene

These are the most beautiful wings I have seen. Good job! Really fascinating. I just want to share with you my thoughts, the arms and legs, are not proportional, what I mean, the upper arm is always longer than the forearm, and that stands for the legs too (thigh and leg). I notice that on some of your painting the forearm is also bigger. I know these are fantasy creatures but I do think you give them human anatomy a little. Your drawings are eye catching and beautiful, but that one thing bugged me, so I wanted to tell you like I wish people give me advice on how to improve on everything I do. Greetings and have a nice day!

So charming Love the effect of frost on Her wings  and tree ^^

Lately I started to use watercolours and I have 2 questions:

- when I should use salt to make effect of it visible ? when paper is very wet or when it's almost dry ?  I'm trying and trying and cannot achieve it :< My bf is laughing that I use more salt for paintings than he when he is cooking xD

- and second one - You mix skin colour on some plastic palette ? Which colors are best for geting skin colour ? yellows and reds ?

Btw I love Your tutorials - I would never think about sprinkling with water It works great

Thank you so much sweetie

#1 - It depend on the salt effect you want to get. You will get cloudy/vague texture if you add salt when the paper is still very wet, there will be little texture (though not what  I ususally do). It is depend on what you want. Best way to experiment a little but if you say it doesn't work let's see where might be a problem....  a) which paper did you use?.. It won't work on ususal printer paper \ school block You will need a better watercolor paper. I must not be very expensive but it should be watercolor paper ( not for mix technique or anything like this)
I use hot press paper of brand Fabriano, their cold press is great too.
b) Maybe you sprinkle salt when paper is already dry?..
I add salt when the paper is still moist ( not wet - you can see it shine a little when you turn it towards the light but water would not run down if you turn it . I hope it makes sense
I use hairdryer because it is usually very cold in my art room and I want to speed the process of 'salted" paper drying You don't need to do it is you have normal room temperature ( more the 18'C lol)

#2 If you saw my tutorials you should know that I achieve skin color in another way, through three way wash, but you can also use burnt siena mixed with little cobalt or ultramarine blue for the basis and then achieve more "alive" look by adding alizarin crimson or any transparent red you might have ( I love crimson lake). Just don't expect to get perfect skin tone in one wash, you will need at least two or three. Don't use opaque paints for mixing skin tone you might end in muddy look. Use transparent and semi-transparent paints. Yes, I mix on usual plastic palette and use synthetic brushes, nothing special
I hope it helps!

Thank You for Your looooomg answer

I think I add salt when paint is still to wet, or maybe it's just "charm" of this paper It's watercolor paper 330g - thickest I ever tried but it also has strongly textured surface. Not really my fav paper I think I liked more Fabriano or Canson Montval but I'm doing calendar for my Grandma and it's ready base for it (in form of a3 calendar with printed days and space for painting which You just need to fill ) I will try to add salt when paint will b a bit more dry

For now I'm mixing for skin hmm it dosen't have name in englih but it's like ready colour for skin (it's nice for first layer but  not good for later shading) with a bit of hmm light magenta - i use it for shading and it looks pretty nice ^^ Tried Your way but hmm I think I did smth wrong cayse it looked weird - must practise more !!

Btw what brand of watercolor You use ?

And once again thank You - You helped me a lot

I know how it is skin is always very difficult part. I know what you mean I had a way back a tube of "skin" beautiful peachy hue but it was semi-transparent and for this I did not like it.  You can try to add a little of burnt siena and cobalt blue for second layer and shadows it might work well too.
I use so many different brands ( a collections of what i bought and got as present in the last ten years lol) Important is to buy artists quality not school\hobby paints they are not good.
I can recommend "White Nights" they have VERY affordable price and great quality. I use a lot of them recently. All the basic colors are very good.
In past I used "Schmincke" "Winsor&Newton" have some of them in my palette  still but I won't buy them again when I run out of color.
Tried to switch to "Sennelier" last year  are very good but price bites and they have a small palette of colors. I have their basics now and all the blues I use recently are from "Senellier" LOVE their cobalt green, all the blues but Opera rose is more like Permanent Mauve so dissappointing... I have not found yet a brand which I think is great... have a mixture of all which work as a team

Yes mostly for deeper shadow I use more burnt sienna added to previously mixed skin color I must try cobalt blue (well tried it in last painting but went to grey - must practise xD or maybe I shouldn't mix that into skin color but just pain over ?  so much to discover )

I got as Christmas present set of 36 colors White Nights and I love it ^^ I had few colors earlier that's why I asked my bf to buy me more Also have Karmański watercolors (it's polish brand) they are in good price and quality is not bad, not as good as White Nights but pretty nice ^^ and lately discovered liquid watercolor Talens Ecoline...oh my good it's great for background - way it flows on wet paper it's so beautiful view Pure pleasure of painting ^^ They only minus is You cannot really shade with them
