As to make things more sturdy and to last longer.

Do you have any tips or recommendations for drawing mechanical designs?

I have lots, but it depends on what type you are shooting for.
Β general tips would be to not overcomplicate visually- an example of this would be if you have a lot of tech try to keep details to a smaller percentage than the less detailed area. asymmetry can play off symmetry, and if you want designs to have an impact trying to incorporate interesting or unexpected shapes while maintaining a semblance of something that looks like it could still suit its purpose.
Β Β One of the things I always do is start simple with some interesting shapes that suit whatever it is going to be..a truck, a pillar ,a computer hub etc and then add from there rather than trying the thing as a whole, then you can see if you are adding too much as you go along and adjust from there.

Thanks for the advice. I see what your saying about focusing on impactfull shapes in shows like Gundam and Homeworld. I often get to bogged down by extraneous details with my designs so I will definitely work on simpler with stronger shapes. I probably need to make multiple thumbnails to practice before dive in on a fleshed out drawing. Once again, thanks for the advice. Your art is really cool!

Love the futuristic but at the same time organic design. It bring me back to the 80's cartoons. Wonderful!

I do love the more rounded and semi-organic style.

It lends itself well to what used to be a subject which only had hard straight edges.

Accord Architecture, because everything's better with armor plating.

Imagine that world without armor plating. Exposed tech guts everywhere just grabbing at your clothing constantly. It'd be like a scene where someone gets their tie stuck in a shredder except with all clothing and everywhere you went all the time.

Shame that game had so many flaws. It was fun at first, was nice to look at, but it just had no cohesion, no matter what you did, and nothing really to draw you in the next day. I remember getting my beta pass, being super excited, played it for a few days, and was left with a meh feeling. I saw the potential, but they just never seemed to grasp it. I feel you could take the existing assets, bring in a new writing team, and do something with it.

Design on the game was in constant flux and passed through a lot of hands. The game I played when I first arrived became like 5 different games as the project continued. It's unfortunate how it went, but at least the art survives.

Some of these look like external compound walls?

I find it facinating how you can create a theme and be so consistent with everything you draw.
