Description Hey!  Remember this guy?  I started him like a year ago, he was meant to be a sort of companion piece to the Cleopatra piece I did but he got put aside and forgotten about.  I started him in the midst of a terrible head cold so it seemed only fitting to finish him on one, lol.  He's all wrinkly because I did him on some cheap paper when I was out of the good stuff.  Also: I seriously need to get a scanner :/

And: this is giving me lots of feels and was listened to more times than I can count while finishing this

(I don't know who the dude in this video is...but he's doing all kinds of funny things to my heart)

Yay Alt-J!

Jazmine, this ROCKS!!! What a powerful image. 4 of swords in tarot. 4 of swords usually means mental balance, so this makes for a very interesting interpretation if one is so inclined. I think your technique here is very good. Very cohesive. Oh, and . . . I think the wrinkled paper really works. Keep that i mind. For outsider art, it really fits. Don't sweat the paper and don't think you need 'good' paper. One of my friends did a series on cardboard that sold for a lotta bucks. If it is done well, Galleries are responsive. They concern themselves with permanence while revering temporality.

Thank Yoooooou!!  I was doing a series inspired by tarot a little while back as a result of a friends prompting but I stopped.  I didn't even think about the four swords, that's funny.

I love working on cardboard!  I used to all the time, the color is so nice and the ridges underneath if you tear away parts of it...  I guess the wrinkles in the paper give it an old weathered look which is kinda good.  Thanks for the different perspective.

As usual, great job on colors.   I love the bloodshot eyes with one rolling up.  And the drool is very well done.  I always find transparent liquids hard to nail and you did it.

As far as getting a scanner,  do allot of research.   I picked up a large bed epson scanner for my art and even though it is capable of very high DPI, it always makes lighter colors and pastels look faded.  Some scanners also do not do well with metallic colors. Mine always turns steel and silver colors to flat gray.  I will be switching to photographing my art in a light box.

Great song and video.  The vocals remind me a bit of Broken Social Scene.

Thank you so much!  Yeah transparent fluids are hard, but also nothing gives me more of a thrill when I'm painting than the moment a  bunch of thin layers come together just right.  I love layering!

Yeah I've looked into a lot of scanners and I know nothing will be perfect.  I like how much detail I can get in a scanner BUT I do use a lot of neon (even if they're just thin little washes) and they always get lost in the blaring light of the scanner... :/  I can get more accurate colors if I photograph in the right outdoor lighting but then I feel I lose some smaller details.  Le sigh....art is just better in person.  I've never tried a light box though!  Maybe I should!

That song was nice, and oh lordy I did not expect the video to go so dark, ha ha ha.  Thanks for sharing

He is ejecting all manner of bodily albumens all over the shop! He looks all the more vehement in his leakage now he's dropped the greyscale and gone all vibrant! Your art is so electric in my mind and constantly inspiring and thus I am now off to scribble in the weird.

That is the best thing I could ever hear!  I need to iron the poor old guy out though, that cheap paper got so wrinkly :/  And maybe after I'll sneak a scan of him on the work scanner when no one is looking
