Description Hands down, my favorite kind of Forever 16 story to write is the pop-culture dream sequence, where one of the characters dream themselves to be a character in a movie or TV show. This one for the week of June 28, 1993 is my good-natured ribbing of Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park - one of my favorite movies, but even I can't deny it's really easy to make fun of it.

You know, the Velociraptor in this comic are more anatomically accurate than the ones in Jurassic Park.

They are still scaly, though, but this was 1993. A few years before raptors turned out to have feathers.

Awesome twist and yet for some reason I can picture Jocelynsaurus in my nightmares XD. But nothing can compare to the horrific monstrosity that is....the CALVINOSAUR!

Great comic! Reminds me of the time I was playing Jurassic Park: The Game. I was walking along, minding my own business, when a dinosaur roared at me. I chose to ignore it, but then it roared at me again, at which point I put down the controller and said "Fine, I'll do the damn dishes!"

I had fun drawing those guys. I'm no Bill Watterson, but I think I did pretty darn good.

that's not really fair because Watterson was a natural at dinosaur drawings. I'm surprised Universal didn't try to contact him to do concept art for the sequels.

No, this series of strips was published in 1993. Retraux comic, remember?

Well, that's what Forever 16's going for; it's being written as if it was published during the 90's.

You ever noticed how, in this movie, everyone is so spontaneously witty all the time? It's like Spielberg was trying every ten seconds to establish the next memorable pop-culture movie quote. Which was likely the case. He did get one ("When Pirates of the Carribean breaks down, the pirates don't eat the tourists!") but there are at least thirty other one-liners that come out of nowhere, even from the children.

Personally, I'm a big fan of Hammond's "I really hate that man."

Spielberg is just so easy to poke fun at. I made sure to pay an ode to his trademark "shots of people looking" in the first strip there.
