Description
A commissioned piece of the character Calorath.I adored illustrating this image, particularly since the client gave me freedom to go nuts without restraints. I'm really proud of this, I've always found fire particularly challenging and to have completed an image where the fire is particularly important is an achievement for me.
I think this is a breakthrough in my rendering and lighting. Please feel free to comment/critique but don't burst my bubble too much eh?

its awsome I love the flames for the dragons fur on its back and the character his self reminds me of the Prince of Persia except this guys dressed like a Samurai and the tones of dark red and bright orange and yellow gives the picture an amazing look.

I was saying: You know in Legend of Zelda; Ocarina of Time there's this big flaming dragon with a jewel embedded in its head that plays some weird Whack-a-Mole game with you? I'd commision you big bucks to draw that guy for me, baby. That's how much I like your fire.
I actually really like how it's not shapeless. It looks very cool to me.

Yeah ... this fiery dragon sort of pops out of small circular pits of lava and you have to run up and hit it with the mythic goron hammer before it launches into the air and attempts to burn you to a crisp/crush you. :/

I've gotta agree with Concept on this.. fantastic!.. but I'd like to see some illumination on the dragon and Cal from the flames... They are very fancy and nice... but they don't really seem to be glowing other than in the air around them. Behind the horns on the dragon, off of the rock, etc. Then again, maybe it's an illusion... ^.^

The way you even have the fire fade at the ends like real fire is fantastic. It seems to me that he is sliding down the face of some surface, using the serpent as some sort of flaming toboggan/sled. Is this the intent, or am I just crazy? ...
No, I'm crazy. He's standing on a rock. Ok, then. The flaming toboggan is my idea. Cha-ching! lol

Very nicely done! Love the fire effect... it seems like the serpent is just a living inferno barely contained by its own skin. Great detail work on the outfit as well. The pose is cool and I like the way you did the swords as well. Um... was looking for something bad about the pic, but couldn't find anything!
