1. Too noisy
2. Cheap fan motors running on max speed when surround temperature exceeds 35 celsius tend to overheat and fry
Solution
1. Use headphones
2. Use two fans - pereodically shutdown one and launch another.

Ahahah! Love it! I got a new fan for my computer about a year ago. Had to paya an arm and a leg for it but I did get a discount because the guy at the computer store liked my Horde jacket.

Suck it, you lazy wimps and hooray for practicality!!!
Nice pic, although you could bring a bucket of ice if you really wanna keep it chilled.

This is exactly what I do with the POS that my husband got from his company when he retired. He soon gave it to me to deal with and got one that had like three fans and the Tower from Hell...I think it was a macho thing.

I had to do this before. Had 3 fans pointing at the computer just to cool it down enough to find out why the computer was over-heating! Its all better now, needed a good clean more than anything.

well the cooling system inside the computer broke so when I play games for an hour my computer starts to make weird noises;;
I took of the cap a few times it did help much;;
I have a bigger fan now standing next to my pc and I think its working XD I havent heard the weird noises yet;;

iFix [2008-06-09 23:38:00 +0000 UTC]
I did this too for a while. but it was so noisy that I had to fork out the 30 for a 120mm fan to mount above my graphics card (it came fanless and ran at 120F!). the floor fan got it down to 85!

JerryCai In reply to iFix [2008-06-10 01:53:02 +0000 UTC]
the big fan is actually a lot hum... instead of the loud highpitch sound of small fans
and its great for use in summer
