Description
The Liminai are a race in my version of Aventurien and Myranor.
They were created by the magic of a powerful and egocentric wizard back in the Dark Times. He wanted to have a companion and designed her to be perfect and love him a first sight. But the Nameless God (or some other malicious supreme being ) became aware of his plans and tried to corrupt his creation. However, the wizard had already fallen in love with her, even before she woke up, and he gave all his power to save his love. Yet, this naturally meant his death and the fierce struggle of will and magic also damaged his laboratory. So, the first thing the Liminai saw was the blue sky shining through a crack in the ceiling.
This is why the Liminai love the sky but still have this deep feeling that they have to give their heart to someone or something. So they often become passionate craftsmen, fanatic followers of ideas or gods or true lovers. But after following one path for some time many get restless and eventually search a different field in which they search for the fullfillment of their desire. But few do find it.

Though he was unsuccessful with his evil plan the Nameless God managed to give them a touch of his malice and pervert them and this is why they look so alien, but beautiful to most people. And this is also why their passion sometimes happen to cause evil, problems and envy, this is why some of the Liminai find their way to the cult of the 13th god, and this is probably why they have the practice of deeply looking in the eyes of dying people, which causes great pain those unlucky ones. They think that by doing this they give the person a part of their own evil and sorrows.
The Liminai have two genders (meaning there are male and female Liminai, unregarded the fact that the first Liminai was female) and can have offspring with most other races, but the child will always be a Liminai. They are spread over the world and are often received with caution by other races because of their looks and their passionate character. They tend to have some talent in the field of magic.

Okay, some much for the background story. The picture is based on some photography. I especially like the wild hair. The eyes are meant to look like jewels of complete blue, dark green, violet, black and - very rare - gold color with glittering silver and gold inclusions. :/
