Description Amyr is a character I played for what began as a D&D 3.5 campaign set in the Forgotten Realms until we switched to Pathfinder rules. He hails from the Wealdath Forest and worships the nature deity Meilikki, a fact advertised by the unicorn symbol on his cloak.  Reblog on Tumblr

Drawn with my graphics tablet in PhotoShop.

Sure, an Aragorn with Elvish lineage - that works.

Well a' what's wrong with a grown man liking crayola colored ponies prancing around and cause havoc around all of Equestria?

JoeNittoly In reply to astralojia [2015-02-07 22:52:44 +0000 UTC]

Sure. Besides, he's a follower of Meilikki (Forgotten Realms goddess of forests, etc) and that's her symbol.

Nice. Maybe you also have an illustration of Meilikki around? : I

Well it would probably take a long time right? How long did this take you to make?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JoeNittoly In reply to astralojia [2015-02-09 00:19:32 +0000 UTC]

Well, this one didn't take too long because it's a simpler style and one I didn't refer to a pose reference for it. If I draw Meilikki, it will probably be a quick, coloured sketch.

astralojia In reply to JoeNittoly [2015-02-09 14:55:15 +0000 UTC]

Oh right....

By the way...How long does a quick colored sketch take you anyway?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JoeNittoly In reply to astralojia [2015-02-09 16:33:01 +0000 UTC]

Usually 1 or 2 hours, but can take me longer if I'm also designing new outfits, armour, non-human features, etc, for the character.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

astralojia In reply to JoeNittoly [2015-02-09 18:48:24 +0000 UTC]

That's not bad for a colored sketch. It can take me less to color, but then my style is extremely minimalistic, and clothing and accessories or weapons always has it taking so much longer.

Nice! I like the colours but they are a bit as if the scene was underwater. The composition is just awesome, as the point of view is to!
If my druid lady would meet this guy, she would totally have a crush on him.

JoeNittoly In reply to KarinaMacGill [2014-02-04 20:18:06 +0000 UTC]

Thanks very much! If by "underwater" you mean slightly gloomy/meditative, that's kind of what i was going for. Oh, and he would definitely have welcomed the company of a lady druid.

Love the colouring you did on this one, but that being said it goes for most of your art. Any tutorials on them?

Thanks very much! I haven't made any tutorials of my own, but there are some great ones from Mark Crilley , MB Workshops , and Patrick Brown that I found very helpful.

Oh, sexy gruff ranger, nice one. I love the all green hues! The detail on the boots and bow are great, amazing work. Your colouring gives off a little bit of shade and I think it matches the character perfectly.

Did you change places, too or just rules btw?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JoeNittoly In reply to FallenAngelItachi [2014-02-03 14:49:47 +0000 UTC]

Thanks very much for your comments! We kept the story in the Forgotten Realms and just converted our D&D 3.5 characters to Pathfinder characters. This was around the time D&D 4E came out, but most of us were disappointed with 4E so when we discovered Pathfinder and loved it, that became our new rule set of choice.

FallenAngelItachi In reply to JoeNittoly [2014-02-03 15:13:45 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome~! Oh, I get it. I find Pathfinder much more agreeable with me, too comparatively. Like they say Pathfinder is like D&D 3.75 xD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JoeNittoly In reply to FallenAngelItachi [2014-02-03 16:06:43 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, exactly. I always describe Pathfinder as "what D&D 4E should have been."

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FallenAngelItachi In reply to JoeNittoly [2014-02-04 20:09:24 +0000 UTC]

Exactly that. I have been much more satisfied by the rules generally, I like it better. Well D&D is the first love and all but yeah. Have any more character or just the ranger?

JoeNittoly In reply to FallenAngelItachi [2014-02-04 21:09:35 +0000 UTC]

In D&D/Pathfinder, I've also played a belligerent half-elven sorcerer (who I plan to re-draw), a human rogue and his paladin cohort , and a lovelorn human fighter (whom I've yet to draw). I see you have a few of your own characters in your gallery; who's your favorite?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FallenAngelItachi In reply to JoeNittoly [2014-02-05 14:09:01 +0000 UTC]

Ha ha, I saw your artist comments in the sorcerer; always the ones that are nothing like us are the most fun to play! But my favourite is my (human) barbarian and it's a close call with my elven witch. Dunno if there are witched in DnD but it's definitely a Pathfinder class. The witch is a he, the suave Damien. The Barbarian is a she with breathtaking curiosity issues, Melissa. I really love both of them and they are really fun to play. Though they are similar as to they are both Chaotic Good but nothing else. xD Alignments are a pain though only if you have someone who's lawful a lot, lot. Man, I had even scanned My Witch, I forgot to upload him here. Damn it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JoeNittoly In reply to FallenAngelItachi [2014-02-07 04:45:18 +0000 UTC]

Very cool. Alignments can be tricky to understand. Like the geek I am, though, I'm always trying to guess the alignment of characters in TV and movies.

FallenAngelItachi In reply to JoeNittoly [2014-02-07 20:11:59 +0000 UTC]

Ha ha ha ha me and my boyfriend do that all the time when we go to a movie together. xD It's a really nice way to exercise in how a chaotic or a lawful character acts. Also, it's a great source of inspiration!

Have you ever discovered a true Neutral film/TV character?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FallenAngelItachi In reply to JoeNittoly [2014-02-08 10:50:26 +0000 UTC]

A true neutral film...I wouldn't say so. Not that I remember anyway. But TV character I know I have, I just don't remember. xD Though now I had a flash. House, from House MD is he Chaotic Neutral or T Neutral? After all, he's all about the diagnosis...well, used to be in the first seasons. Man, everyone changes. xD

Have you encountered anything like that?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JoeNittoly In reply to FallenAngelItachi [2014-02-08 16:52:57 +0000 UTC]

The only "True Neutral" I can think of would be Gaius Baltar from Ron Moore's Battlestar Galactica. On the Law vs. Chaos spectrum, from what I recall, he seems to work within the system for the most part and only tries to cheat as a last resort to protect himself. On the Good vs. Evil spectrum, he's no killer but neither does he go out of his way to protect others (until the very end, of course). What do you think?

Ooooh, I've never delved into that fandom, I have no idea xD But the things you say about him do point there.
