How are the novels? I suspect you like them good enough, being re-reading them. I have actually never read them - but boy did I play the games!

Novels are pretty good, written in first-person (mostly as Fly, but sometimes switches to his companion Arlene, and then later to Albert and Jill in the second book). Doesn't stay 100% true to Doom, as instead of real demons they're genetic experiments created by invading aliens. Oh well.

And yeah same here, played the Hell (pun intended) out of Ultimate Doom, Doom 2 (second all-time favorite), Final Doom, and of course Doom 3 and Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil. id announced Doom 4 back in 2010, but haven't heard any news since.


and it's been a few years, I usually like to re-read them every so often.

Well, I suggest first checking out your local book store, but they were written in the '90s and reissued maybe six years ago? Best bet is to check Amazon.com. I was able to find them all at Borders, but they've gone out of business now...makes me sad.

Thanks - I might give the books a chance, although I prefer the spawn-from-hell concept to the oh-no-my-experiment-failed.

Yeah same here. Oh but don't worry, it's not the humans experimenting with them, it's the alien invaders. They still keep the THEME of the hellspawn and such, but not the actual idea. Regardless, they are still good books (there's four of them). I highly suggest buying them (you'll have to do it online, they're old).

And at least they aren't like Doom the Movie, that thing was a direct kick to the balls of the entire Doom series.

In the Doom novels yes. I think he was just "Doomguy" in the game though.
