Last year I took a drive down to 'Constable Country' around Suffolk and spent a few days just wandering around the areas he'd painted. I'm noticing some similarities between those areas and these images and as I could never in a month of Sundays paint anywhere near Constable's standard, I'm very pleased to see even a hint of a comparison appear in these shots, maybe that's where the painterly thing is coming from
I say painterly all the time so I really hope it is a word
