Apart from the rug, every other things looks pretty good from this angle. Exterior background I believe was done in photoshop.

Use the displacement feature of your render to achieve this.

Look for others who have used it and are successful and ask them how.

This is your first interior scene? I'm quite impressed. Apart from a few proportional and compositional mistakes, it's quite visually appealing, and even more so for a first attempt.
The first thing I want to comment on is the most easily remedied: color scheme. If you stand back and observe your work, you'll notice that the light-colored furniture in the room clashes horribly with the dark red wall and renders the curtain almost invisible. It also makes the room seem smaller than it is and gives the impression of clutter. I'd suggest a floatier color, perhaps a sandy brown to complement the sofas (and change the curtain to white too), or if you insist on sticking to a dark palette, you could try a light gray or dark blue.
The next obvious things you could address are the out-of-scale items of furniture. First of all, the window is not tall enough. Picture a person sitting in the armchair, then getting up to look out the window. Their head would be almost level with the curtain bar! The shortness of the window also gives an impression of a low ceiling, which further decreases realism.
Thirdly, I want to point out that although the curtains are drawn back, there is no visible rope or string that can be seen to be holding them in place. Also, I notice that the texture on your cushions have been flattened where you stitched it together. This can be fixed by right clicking the material in the right panel and changing the projection type to "Cubic" (adjust length and offset if necessary).
I have many other minor criticisms, including the modelling and texturing especially of your sofas, but to bring them up here at the beginning of a very exciting time for you seems rather petty. I have enjoyed your work immensely, and look forward to your next contribution.
