Thank you Volker. You have no doubt heard of the tornadoes in our state of Oklahoma. So far, my husband and I have escaped any injuries or damages from these storms. The huge that hit Moore, OK this past Monday (May 20, 2013) was only about 10 miles from our house, as the crow flies.

I see some news about the tornados on the news here and it is good that you had a chance to escape. I thinkm the weather today is not normal. Not in your country and not here where i live. I can't remember to have such a cold, long and terrible winter and such a cold May. I hope all will be better for you and your husband in the future...

Thanks. This is probably one of my better portraits, but I still have not reached the level I am working toward.

Thank you, dear. I have been reading quite a lot lately, and I'm still practicing on the keyboard. I'll never be a great musician, but I'm having fun. Our weather can't make up its mind. One day it is cold, next we are having temperatures in the high 70's and low 80's, then back to the 30's and 40's. I'd settle for the mid 70's most of the time; but the choice is not mine to make.

That is the main thing is to have fun. We only live once. Our weather has been weird too. Was in the 70's last week now it's in the 20's. Brrr. It's supposed to be Spring! What's up with that! Have fun!!

Our weather is trying to make up its mind as to whether it is still winter or it is now spring. Keeps the TV weathermen on their toes, trying to predict what kind of weather we can expect in the coming days.

Ours too. Should be nice this weekend, though. I snowed here for two days straight!

I am stunned! This is the first time anyone has referred to something I have done, as "Genius." I appreciate your enthusiasm, although I will never reach that level. Knowing this isn't going to keep me from working toward improving my artwork. Thanks for the compliment, though.

My sincere thanks. Actually, I am the one who is surprised. When I saw this photograph of Fan, I said to myself, "There's no way you can draw this one!" But knuckling down and paying attention to details, I came closer than I had originally hoped to. Hard work and lots of practice does pay off. I still haven't reached the place where I want to be in my drawings, but I will keep working toward it.

Thank you. There are many faults in my drawing of Fan Bingbing, but I hope to learn something new with every piece of work I do. The challenge for me, is to make my portraits look real and three dimensional. That is what drives me. That, plus the fun of drawing. If someone had told me four years ago that I would be drawing peoples' faces, instead of painting scenery, I would have told them, "That's not very likely to happen!" I have always heard people say how hard it is to draw portraits, and IT IS, if one is striving to get a likeness of someone down on paper. But it is not impossible to do. I have covered quite a lot of ground since I drew my first portrait, but I still have a quite a ways to go.

Thanks, Kathleen. I spent a little more time on this one, than I've been known to do in the past. I am still striving for reality in my portraits, but one of my biggest problems has been working too fast. I started this one late last night around midnight, went to bed around 2 AM, then finished it earlier today. I worked on it about three hours, from around 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. I am looking forward to watching the OKC Thunder NBA Basketball team play the Utah Jazz tonight. Ed is recording the game, so we can skip over the commercials. I've become a basketball fan again, since our city acquired a professional team. When we lived in San Antonio, TX I used to take the children to watch Spurs play.

I do the same thing. I get so engrossed I forget the time and I'm up till 2:00 a.m. also. I tend to want to finish what I'm working on. It is an obsession. The Thunder is a good basketball team. They are the ones that left Seattle Sonics. They are still mad about that in Seattle. They are trying to get another stadium for another team.
