It's saying something about the quality of the show when the trekkies unite against it.Β (trekkies are notorious for the many division in the fanbase, they rarely come together as a united group, which is surprising for the fans of a show about unity and diversity)

STD might just be a a better SGU, but you know what? Glad to see Star Trek get a new series, glad to see a new perspective on Star Trek (not every member of the Federation is a part of the A-team, and what happens when you mix the stress of being paragon with being a lunatic Captain, a question nobody was asking but I'm enjoying having it answered), glad the show isn't losing momentum like DS9 did (nothing against DS9 on the whole, but it struggled with serialization and ya'll know it), glad it isn't starting out slow and with dud concepts (that first season of TNG), and I'm glad it isn't just silly and devoid of high concept sci fi rigamaroll (original series). And hey, the action scenes are well made (as opposed to EVERY OTHER Star Trek series). This comments section has some tinted lenses looking at past series.
