I still love this....I found it again unpacking and it makes me smile ever time I look at it. It needs a nice frame to go up on the wall but I'm too chicken it'll fade so it stays in my nice flat art given to rilly book right at the front along with Jess' XD

Pretty! I love your use of japanese culture! Is that a kimono I see?

Not a real kimono, but the costume is inspired by those. Maybe I'll try and do a proper kimono next time.

Well, actually the stars were done rather quickly thanks to the fact that I was using black cardstock as medium. So the white pencil did just fine for the starry sky. The flowers though are a topic in and of themselves because I had to keep layering to get the underwater effect x.x Glad you like it, though.

oooh shiny gloooobes! *jumps around the piccy trying to bat at things* It's so shiny and ethereal. I love how she's welcoming the viewer to the placid realm beyond. And those lotus blossoms floating below are just an exquisite touch. I get such a lovely ethereal sense, as if I could float about this piece forever.
And..you're crazy for using black cardstock.but it works really well to achieve that vast space. Gotta love it Jude^^

The only other choice of card I had was light blue which would so not have worked for the image, unless I would have felt like coloring the sky and water into indigo blue and black. That was enough work as is, thank you.

If you could define what you mean by 'wrapped around so exact' I might be able to answer your question. Other than that stop thwapping me or I'll never do a background again for fear of being beaten half to death.

Urm, quite honestly... that just king of ... happened. I didn't use any special measurements. In fact the first sketch was assymmetrical. The woman wasn't in the center of the two pillars but too far to the left. So I had to make a pause while transfering and shift the paper to the left to get the gaps on each side somewhat right.
That was hell x.x

*sits for a moment or two with her jaw open*
wow. Just... wow.
Don't you EVER tell me you're no good at doing backgrounds or I shall hang you from the rafters, missus. Quite possible one of your best to date, if not ever! You can tell you've really thought about the whole image here, everything has its place, everything is there for a purpose, which is what really makes the image special for me. It's not just wonderfully drawn bits put artfully together, the piece gels as a whole. And the colors are amazing. You've inspired me to go back and try black card again...

Lovey, it's enough that the work on this piece already almost killed me as is. I don't need you throwing threats of outright murder around.
I'm glad you like it though. I'm pretty happy with it myself actually.
And yes, you most definitely need to do a piece on card again.
