Description
Revisiting some childhood memories with this painting. I have being wanting to paint this scene for years, and it ended up being a lot more nostalgic than I expected when I finally got around to it. For those who are unfamiliar with her character, here is her theme:

It is probably one of the most fitting character themes I can recall.
…and so here's to tying up a loose end, “Farewell Kikyo”

yea, though i find the anime to have rushed that portion a little too much. The manga was better in that respect.

I love this very much! Even in this character's death, you made her portray such emotion! So kudos to you! I absolutely loved Kikyo in the series. So, are you using Photoshop for this? Also, what kind of brushes, and effects do you use? I have been using GIMP for all of my artwork because PS is just too expensive... Maybe at some point in my life I would like to do this stuff, but not as advanced as what you are doing...

yes, most of my work is done in photoshop. I use mostly the standard round brush.

Okay, but what effects and techniques do you use? Or is a lot of it just smudging and blurring to give your digital paintings that kind of composition? Cause I could do something like this in GIMP, I just need to get more insight on what other people use for brush effects so I have an idea.

i tend to avoid stamp brushes. Textures and patterns are usually just through strokes. I dont do any smudging either, its just mostly blending with a brush.
