I draw Jay Chou again, because the first attempt doesnt look alike. I think its recognizeable this time, but i still think there's something missing in my figure sketching, so long we dont have critique session already, i need to know whats not right in my work...:: pencil on A3 layout pad

Yup, the likeness is more visible this time and I like the way you did the hair but maybe his lips are too thick... I don't know... just a hunch. Anyway, to make it more realistic, i think you need to add more depth to the tone of the hair and make it darker than the face tone, otherwise it looks flat... again, a hunch

thank you very much! i'll observe more on that, maybe its because i only use one 2b value for the overall shading, or maybe i still cant control the value so well. But thank you again for ur comment, i'll keep that in mind!

Quite in agreement with bittersweet-lie, maybe this lacks a bit of depth... But the face is truly amazing. I really like the way you sketched it, the texture gives a very powerful expression. I'm totally uncultivated, I don't know this guy, but this piece is awesome. xD

The texture on his face reminds me of a dollar's portrait...
Great work hair too. Looks a lot like him, only stronger and larger, perhaps more masculine. VERY good work!

I do not know Jay Chou, but you have a good handling on pencil. One of these days I'll do something like that, but I'll try to refreshed my drawing skill first. I have not really drawn things since 1994.

Well, whether or not you captured the likeness 100%, your unique artistic style sure makes up for whatever may be amiss. Anyway, I knew who it was at first glance (thumbnail view, even), so know that you did a fantastic job. Splendidly rendered contours as always.
