*g* this is absolutely adorable!! It really has the atmosphere of the peaceful King's Landing, and (what I, at least, consider) the truer natures of both the characters. (It's odd, though, to think that Joffrey was so young when he became so bitter and despicable, and I think you enunciate that here, if only in my own thoughts.) You know, the societal/outsider perception v the truth sort of the thing. People generally think of Sandor as harsh and ugly and terrible, but really he's quite tender and caring, and it's assumed by many that Cersei and Jaime were the only people who believed that Joffrey had a better side to him (and that they're incorrect), but truly, he had been a very young child at some point, a point where children have yet to understand the basic workings of the world around them and are entirely innocent!Β

Yep! Totally. There was a time when he was young, squishy and innocent. And I believe Sandor was fond of him for a time. I'd like to believe that even though the Cleganes were sworn to the Lannisters, that perhaps they noticed the Hound (or maybe Joffrey) had a fondness for the other, and made him his sworn shield. Anyhow, it makes me a bit sad.Β
