Everything looks good so far for this show despite my concerns.Β Except the way the characters are drawn. I mean the backgrounds are freakin gorgeous but then you see the anatomy on the characters and its like wtf???? I understand it will be on disney junior butΒ why would they put all that talent and effort into the backgrounds and then just half ass the characters? Doesnt make sense to me..... but this is my "better drawn" version of Fuli. This is more what i think she would look like if she appeared in the style of the first movie. I plan on doing this to all of the Guard characters but maybe i wont.... we will see.Related content

Yes its good. I actually like it a lot! I find it to be very respectful to the movie and it gets better every episode, quality and story wise.

This should have been how Fuli looked in my opinion. Or close to it. What I don't get is why Disney didn't do the the "black tears" from the eyes to the mouth. That's essentially a signature thing for a cheetah.

Ya know if they wanted to do a highly stylized cheetah they really should've just done more of a king cheetah coloration. It's still stylized and very rare and it actually is legit cheetah markings! Her looks really tick me off, but I don't absolutely hate the show. So...

Fulis TLG design is probably the ONLY thing that bothers me about the show. YES I get she's a highly stylized king cheetah. But she doesn't look like one at ALL. My husband was convinced she was a leopard. At the VERY least, they should of given her tear marks...a very well known physical feature that defines cheetahs. I don't understand their logic behind that

Her stripes probably would have been more accurate too, starting on her rump and extending up, rather than on her head. Β I can accept that she's a king cheetah, but I think they copped out on her coat pattern.

Yeah, I like this Fuli xD She still has circles instead of spots only which is uncommon for cheetahs as far as I know. I should google more cheetah patterns, she doesn't seem like a full king cheetah either.
The animation has improved over the series I'd say, but pretty sure they use predawn graphics and tween them so they don't have to draw and line and recolour every single frame. Idk which program they're using but I'd like to argue that its not Flash, more like Toon Boom or something like that ... xD

Have to say your version looks way better! Also like the colors you picked! More natural and pleasant to look at. That's another reason why they should hire fans of the movie.
Also don't get why they designed a new lead character instead of using Kiara.

I also don't really know why she has white sclera... since... she's a feline... also I mostly just find her design to be a pretty jarring contrast to the other characters

I couldn't decide when I first saw the character if she was a cheetah or a leopard. In the show she looks like an adult ocelot. Just weird. This is much nicer.

I'm happy to see this. It tweaks the design enough to show how she could have worked, rather than looking like a sort of kung-fu panda mashup. The iris and the tears missing really bothered me, not the mention the mashed face.

I like this redesign for Fuli and I do wish she looked more like this in the show, though I don't think her original design is terrible. I think what they were going for was to make her head/body shape look sufficiently different from the lions so she didn't just look like a recolour, but they went a little overboard. This is a nice compromise.
And holdup! I'll have you know nothing about this show is being half-assed. I can assure you that everyone working on this show is doing everything they can to make it look as good as possible. No, it won't look as good as the original or even SP. Those were features. Despite this show attempting to emulate film-quality animation, it is still for TV and made under limited budget and time constraints, not to mention significantly less experienced animators. So maybe keep that in mind.

They ARE ugly lol we all thought simbas pride was bad but this is worse. Im sure ill be redrawing a scene or two in original tlk style after i see the movie. As long as the story is good enough i can get over the bad animation.

I agree, the other characters look fine, but I'm not sure what they decided to do with Fuli. To me, her head shape and features bother me the most. It seems more human than animal. I'm not sure how to describe it but when you see her from a side view, it just doesn't look right. And it's not like this is the first time they've drawn a cheetah in the Lion King series, like in the Story of The Race, Simba had a friend named Swifty (or swift, cant remember) and his designs looked great!! Well whatever it is, hopefully we'll all be able to look over this feature, and enjoy the show. I'm really looking forward to it. Who knows maybe they created her this way to appeal to the younger audience. Lets be optimistic
