I promise I will draw something other than cats, eventuallySo I really don't like Fuli (from The Lion Guard) as a character--I actually don't like any of the characters--but what bothers me most is her spot pattern. I know I'm not the only one with qualms about it, so it looks like Disney TV didn't do much homework. I suppose they were going for the king cheetah look, but they gave her leopard/rosette spots instead. I understand that this may be for simplicity's sake, as animating the pattern of a king cheetah sounds like a hell of a job, but why not just give her normal cheetah spots if that's the case? Anyway I'm ranting.Ā
This is my take on Fuli, with REAL king cheetah spots. Gave her tear marks (why isn't this part of her design?! it would sell her as a cheetah!) and lightened her pelt a little bit. I kind of tried to blend the TLG style with my own, so she isn't as stylized as her animated version.Ā

This redesign is amazing! It's consistent with an actual cheetah (a king cheetah at that). Not only that, but it appeals to kids too! Since tlg is a kids show that's always great. Most artists redesigning Fuli forget or just don't care about that. The only thing that's bad on this is that almost neon yellow. That's one of the things that's horrible about Fuli's design. Not only is it an eyesore, but with that color fur she'd be killed by predators. That isn't your fault, but she needs a different coat to live lol. Spectacular redesign!

I always like to see different artist's take on Fuli's redesign. I love Fuli, but her design bothers me too. XDĀ
