This is a portrait of my friend, Sam...short for something I can't pronounce or write LOL! She's Ethiopian and she always reminded me of Queen Sheba when she wears a wrap. She's kind of a cross between Queen Sheba and a Rastafarian in this pic. Queen Sheeba was not a Rasta (that I know of) and neither is my friend. But she's been thinking about getting dreads so I thought I would show her what i might look like if she did get dreadlocks.This is only my 3rd digital painting. The other two were just so so. But I'm pretty happy with this one. Maybe some day I'll get back to it and fix some of the mistakes...like her lips..and her chin...I don't think I got them right but for now, I'm going to step away and practice...practice...practice!

Wow! Greatly done portrait. Mainly mouth and lips are great. I also like the hair ribbon and hair itself. Only her eyes..you could do a bit more shadow in the iris and the white parts, so it looks more plastical. But other than that, it's a wonderful work!

You definitely have some great detail work! Especially in the beads! You could try going in and really popping some of the shadows though to make the picture a little more round. As it is it seems a little flat. One trick would be to add the opposite color in the shadows to make the shadows really deep.

Nicely done! I think she looks really pretty, and I like the detail that you put into her wrap. I would suggest that you use darker shadows in places; the really light shading kind of flattens the picture here.

Very nice with the rendering and blending with the colors! I think just by bumping up the lighting and darkening the shadows, it'll make the portrait even more believable than it already is. but yeah, definitely this is a good practice session for you, good job!

I tihnk you captured the anatomical features very well! The picture might lack a bit of patterns and textures to look more naturalistic, e.g. on the skin (or maybe it's also a litte deeper contrasts). But it's already really good! (I find portraits hard as hell.
