I really like it ! It's beautiful. I'm not an expert in painting, maybe some anatomical details could be fixed (I can't tell you exactly what, it's just that on her face some things might not seem as natural as others), but this will come naturally with practise I guess. Still it's wonderful and you did a great job ! Keep up !

Done in GIMP? Totally awesome! (I haven't figured Gimp out enough to do much)

But just like said, the hair needs a more finer touch to it. Right now it looks like when a camera takes a picture of someone when they were moving, or that her hair was vibrating

Great job though

This is lovely but you ask for ideas so you can improve - her shoulders don't seem quite right; even allowing for shadow there seems to be too big a difference of skin tone. Plus even with hair that is less fine in reality I would work with an even finer brush especially at the edges of the face and the edges of her hair - and add more stronger (but fine brush) highlights so texture is emphasised.

The most important tips are these - practice ... keep doing it ... and enjoy

Thank you and yes...i was a little lazy with the hair i confess...
About the skin tone on the shoulder...i had so much trouble finding the right tone that maybe i gave up in he middle of the process..
Thank you for pointing them to me
Will try harder next time

Gorgeous painting. great proportions and skin tone.

I use Gimp all the time but I haven't tried my hand at painting yet. Maybe one day. I look forward to seeing more

I think that when drawing from a photo, seeing the original tells you a lot about your painting skills. Or do you just kind of use it as inspiration to draw a face, without wanting to represent the source... in this case Lola? I recognise the photo, from the pose. I would not recognise her however, so in terms of likeness I'd say you need a lot of practise. In terms of colour-use however I think its very good.

I tried to keep it as close to the original as possible but the main goal was to understand how the colors works/change across the face and how i could replicate that in a digital way, so after the main details of the face was achieved i only payed attention to the features that could change the light/shadows and that's the reason why i didn't post the original...

I that case you'd critic my capability of drawing from reference and not my painting skills...
See, if i was doing some sort of portrait of "someone" i would post the photo but i'm just learning to paint...so the question is:

Do you like what you see?

I have GIMP, too, but no advice for you. Rarely use it. Regardless, I like this alot.
