You've never seen the anime Excel Saga!? Oh my you need to watch it..one of the funniest animes EVER! Excel is the main character..and Minchi is her dog, looks more like a cat, who serves as her emergency food supply. Poor Minchi lives his life in fear that Excel will one day run out of food and resort to eating him.

hurrm... I think I did watch an ep or too back in college now you come to mention it... - the main character had a really annoying voice. I don't remember the dog or much else about the show though (I think it was before I'd really gotten into that type of anime) ... I should probably give it another go sometime.
