Description This is also from my favorite park.

Unfortunately, I went there too late, the sun was beginning to set, and it really was not very favorable for a lot of the shots i wanted to take.
I don't like how it highlighted the trees, but i love the shadows it created in the hills you win some, you lose some.

No PS edits, no crop, just the frame and i toned down the colors a bit. Also, trying a new kind of frame. What do y'all think? good or distracting?

aww man, this makes me want to jump on my mountain bike and go for it...

the border is a little distracting but the idea is a good one, i'm not sure how i would change it, really.

what a great location to make photos! nicely done.

The shadows are nice off the hills, and I do agree with you about the lighting on the trees, and the border frellin' rocks!

aww thanks for the comment on this! This poor lil pic has been long ignored...
That totally was my favorite park.... and although it may look huge.. those hills are really rather small but they seem to carry an inherent vastness with them

-nods- you get the feeling that they are small but in the with the sense of the rolling and shadows makes it look much bigger.

that is so funny that you mention that! It's always been one of my fantasies .. hehe to get it on amongst those hills.. it's secluded enough, but still out in the open! Cant get better than that

I can see why you like this park so much. I know I would. What vivid colors and the way the eye is drawn into the center to the path by the slope of the hills is intriguing. Simply gorgeous.

In photoshop, i just duplicated the original image, increased the canvas size by the size of the border i wanted. I resized the duplicated image so it fits the new canvas and then just deleted the middle. Did a guassian blur and played with the color balance and decreased the transparency until i was satisfied with it.... hehe does that make sense?

Very interesting border! Its such a green shot love it. Represents nature so well. Looks like a place where I would love to just lay down and read a book or listen to some music. Its very soothing, and it looks so relaxing.

I love the wonderful greens in contrast to the trees. That winding path is just too cool. Great capture, Katie.

heh that park is amazing.. i think i'll be spending most of my time there this spring and summer...

i'm unsure about the frame too.... i don't think i'll be doing that again tho.. it worked for this shot, but wouldn't work for too many others....

Not to detract from what others think, But sometimes replies are a little to cerebral. I'll just say I think it's pretty. I like the frame too, but it does distract a little, but then again, I like the effect....OH God..now I'm getting that cerebral disease

i really like this one. Its so green. and the frame looks really good mostly beacuse the image in the frame is bigger but its blurry.

Very nice shot! However... I do not like the frame. Too distracting. The light play is nice. End of day usually gives good contrast as seen here. Depth of field could be little more... but I am just being an ass. sorry. It is really a lovely picture hands down... but I feel like a critic at the moment (not that I have a grain of salt to my words).

i adore parks like this, especially when the sun is up there, burning our soul and your body.

the frame couldnt be better. it is unique and it definately suits in the picture.

you know that's exactly what i did when i went there... i sat there for hours and melted into the ground... it was so wonderful.. hopefully i can get out there again soon...
