Parts of the picture, like the tail and the forearms, are very difficult to see.

Indeed; I'm experimenting with minimalism so I'm practising suggesting form without revealing it entirely. Then I can play with the focus of the drawing. As here; I want the viewer to look mainly at the spiny growths and the mutated hands/feet.
