You know, I still don't get it. Maggie and the other mutates had tails in the episode when they were introduced, but in their later appearances they don't have any. What do you think is reason why they were drawn with the tails first but had them removed for their later shows?

A friend who is a big gargoyle fan said "I think Greg W. explained this once...something about the different animators/studios and being unable to keep the designs the same."
I think that explains it enough. Sometimes different studios have problems keeping designs if they dont communicate with each other.

Yeah you must always consider that when a cartoon shows artist decide to change style and have it done by a different studio team.
I still think it would've made more sense to just keep the tails, but you can't have everything when something that you want is just out of your control.

In story explanation (from Greg): their mutated genetic structures were still in flux during Metamorphosis and eventually stabilized later, after the tails had been resorbed. How this makes sense from a biology standpoint I don't know, but that's what Greg said the in-story explanation was. Then again, we're trying to make sense of the work of a biogeneticist who is known to be a few fries short of a Happy Meal, so.... yeah.
Out of story: I recall Greg saying something about them not being satisfied with the character designs in Metamorphosis for one reason or another, and when the next Mutate-centered ep came around they took the chance to redesign them. I can't blame them entirely- Maggie especially looked really weird in Metamorphosis. There may have been a change in animation team too.
Also, it's simpler to draw and animate a character without a tail. That's probably a factor.

Word of God is their mutations whee still in flux and the tails got absorbed back into their bodies.

Someone told me that it was a change of animators that didnt exactly follow up with the original character designs. It would be weird to ungrow a tail though XD

Yeah but then I don't think any of them in the show had tails.

Yes but wolf never did, nor did they show any others with them in the show. Thug was one of few that had them but that was in the comic.

Lol. Wolf was one of The Pack. He was not one of the mutates. He did, however, end up having himself... "upgraded", for lack of a better word, if that's what you're talking about. >_>
