The way these two played off each other... the way it was done was SO interesting. I watched this show because I was bored but then I started seeing just how sophisticated the writing is.Β My goodness. So much submimity when you pay attention, it's like the older books I used to read in class like the Catcher in the Rye.

My fansub group and I are currently translating AnJ 2, and I absolutely love these two, they have such an interesting relationship. Watching the show from a female perspective makes it interesting to me though it makes me sad that since it's a boy's show they probably don't have a chance at ending up together. lol

The female part of me feels sad about it too but the narrative part of me is glad it ended the way it did.Β Pulling off that ending was actually pretty of ballsey, poetic, and powerful writing. It wasn't abrupt and when you look back it was intricately interwoven throughout the plot.Β Joe's actually a simple yet complex character. Or rather, just really darn deep. Love that kid.

Methink a modern remake of the anime could be interesting, I'd watch it; I have found that there is now a french translation of the manga, it was cool (if only read yet first volumes..)...
