The more I observe women's clothes for sci-fi shows, the amount seems to be inversely proportional to what men wears. In other words, men look overdressed while women look under-dressed.

it could be that the concept art department doesn't have anything left in the budget when it comes time to design apparel for the females, or they are males appealing to the LCD fanbase. the latter is more likely.
