Description Well, I hope this manip isn't too bad... I needed some sort of reference for Valek while I was reading, and I thought of ~Johawna 's lovely deviation Ninja III , and decided to try and change the model's features so as to fit Valek's description. First I only intended to do it for myself, but then when it didn't turn out horrendous, I thought others might like it as well, since there are so few depictions of his character available.



The credit for the photo goes to ~Johawna , and the credit for the character goes to Maria V. Snyder (if you haven't read Poison Study yet, be sure to give it a try ). Thank you both, especially Johawna for being so nice about this!

Thank you! THAAAAANK YOU!!! This is awesome visual inspiration. I've only just started looking around for images to support the scenes these amaaazing books create. This is great! Perfect pose for Valek, very in-character. I like how you've drawn his hair. Of all features, that was the hardest one to envision! The sapphire eyes, angular face, slim build and form-fitting black 'snoop suit' - it's all here! Nearing the end of 'Magic Study', I can now put a clear image to poor faceless Valek. Thanks a million!

I'm very, very happy that I managed to help you with that! Thank you for all the positive feedback! I tried to make it a little curly, but I couldn't define it very well. Still, it makes it look like shadows, so I suppose it makes it look like it's blending in with the shadows he inhabits

A really great image of Valek, one of the few I've seen where the long black hair isn't limp and lifeless and he doesn't have an empty, hollow face. This is a really great interp!

The hair may be a little too flat and messy, but it's a nice deviation besides the fact. Your artwork has been featured in my Character Journal.

Thank you for the feature I know, the problem was that I had to turn the model's hair from blond to black...

I used a very, very primitive method, since at first I didn't intend to show any of this to the rest of the world: I used the Burn Tool in Photoshop and I darkened it until it looked black

I don't use Photoshop - rather its free counterpart (Gimp) - but you could create a new layer and color black over the whole hair then change the transparency. Like, instead of normal, use overlay or ... er ... grain merge. Those are the ones I typically use. That's what I would do, at least.

I know, I know. I was just too lazy to do anything more complicated than that Like I said, I wanted to do something that resembled Valek only a little bit (I was more interested in the pose). Thanks for the advice, though
