I think the small details here are awesome, the slightly risen middle finger on the left hand adds to the character. Great colouring skills as well!

If you were looking for a "Big gun" you should have used the FULL SIZED Ar-15, (More commenly know by the military version the M-16), not the carbine. Trust me, those things are gigantic. Also, you forgot the sight at the end of the berral.
As for the picture itself, the right hand, (Her left), looks a bit akward. For some reason the hair reminds me of Maria Traydor from Star Ocean, which is really weird seen as the shades remind me of Matoko (However you spell it) from Ghost in the Shell.
Overal, its pretty good.

Hmm.. I drew this not Khel (if you read the desc..) And that is the m-16, actually. I drew it from several pictures I had (thank you google!) ..but it was just for fun, you know, not for serious D:

Well, as far as pictures go, its pretty close to impossible to tell the difference between the full size and carbine M-16s and the only TRUE external difference is the size, so I can't blame you.
I draw for fun too, I don't plan on ever making it my profession. (I'm 50% solider, 45% writer, and 5% artist) But again, the only external difference is the size, so I can't blame you.

i rly love the way you CG ^__^ keep up the great work!!
question, do you usually have colours on one layer, as in all facial tones on the one layer, and hair colours on another, or do you give each tonal for the face a seperate layer?
and same for the BG?

hehe you deserve it my dear *hugs* you're works are just always stunning *glomps*
well, i've always been keen in getting better by working at a better style but faster production rate. So i prefer the most minimum layer usage. *tho i tend to use so many which is why it takes almost 35hrs+ to finish a piece x__x*
i started getting more into OC3 to paint *i noticed its the same detailing i want in PS, caz it blends more faster, rather than having me brush over 30 times to get that same effect in PS xP
So u paint on one layer? or several layers for each section. I started trying OC, but i found it easier to paint one layer for the hair *tick its transparency box* and so forth for other parts of the drawing. *except one thing i'm concerned is, you cant re-edit certain parts if you wish to erase them xD;;;. BUT its alot faster i say ^__^
*when it comes to painting i tend to work on BGS too. *the character tends to not get a fuzzzy white edge around them that way xD!!.

It's cel-shaded,yes. But most of the promotional art for it(at least the movies) holds that painted look. The backgrounds in the movies are also a mix between cel and paints. To answer your second question, if you're into things like philosophy, anthropology, or just plain like anything that has well done action and believable(as far as it can get in it's medium and setting) scripts and action sequences, then yes it is good.
