Description These past two bamboo mats were pretty small, 24 x 21 cm. Have done work on bigger mats (3ft x 2ft), so it was kind of nice to work with something manageable and desk-centered.

..Still a pain to draw/paint on a canvas that has gaps. And string. Not to mention splinters.

Sushi mat, acrylics, colored pencils, Micron brush pen. For my papa and aunt.

Thanks much, I'm glad that there's some character that comes through on this besides "model poses with lamp".

Just curious: By saying that you had to do a doubletake, do you mean that the character outline was difficult to read visually? Or was it something else?

not at all. at first i thought it was just a reg pic, but during my second look i could see i was looking at a pic of a painting on a bamboo mat. seen this before, but this stick out to me more and is my fav due to ur style. if i could say anything more, i would say keep up the good work, and im lookin forward to ur future work.

Ahhh, silly May. I know, I know; she's not a model like you - but still, I tried my best to make her look gorgeous.

Bamboo: It seemed like a good idea at the time - they were only a dollar each. And then I realized how friggin painful it was to sketch on the Asian equivalent of a corrugated tin roof... let alone painting on it.

But, it got finished. Still needs a coat of fixative.

Well, we always learn something new and I'm very happy to see you experimented on both materials to see what would happen ^-^

I'm quite sure the last coat will make it more shiny and cool Thanks for sharing

Shiny and cool are good goals to go for. I should make that my second mission statement in art: "Shiny and cool".

All the world is your canvas! What a great idea even if it is tricky to paint on! This mat as well as the other look simply wonderful!

Honestly... that's one of the best compliments anyone's ever paid me - this really, really made my day. I want to make that phrase one of my mission statements in art from now on. Danke for that; much appreciated.

"All the world is your canvas!"....

...(*prepares canvas*)...
