Well, this started as pose/expression practice and ended up being a fur experiment. I needed to do something like this to get back into art - it's been over a month since I've done anything major.I like how it turned out. I took a couple tips from 's new shading tutorial and my observations of the beautiful arts of but most of it was me going crazy. xP
Let ze color choices burn yer eyezz.
This is 100% working size, so yeah.. it might look better sized down. And there are some pretty bad anatomy "mistakes" but I'm not about to go back and fix them, so content yourself with the knowledge that I know.

Wow that's incredible. I can't believe you call that practice. You did an amazing job on the fur and the expression is really good. Did you just make up the character on the spot, or was it already made?

I like the design, it may be simple, like... only few markings, but it has your... character "style". It's hard to explain, but aside from your style, I could tell you drew that. Does that make sense? Probably not. But the way you place the markings, I'm sure would make this character good enough to even use in the comic, if all the spots aren't taken.

The shading is amazing for all that detail, it looks almost wet
Is that mostly the smudge tool or a little of everything?

Hehe, thanks. ^^ I actually laid off the smudge tool mostly in this one.. I did use it to blend the base colors and here and there in the later stages, but it's hard to get detail smudging, so most of it's just the paintbrush. I used 's idea to utilize the brush whose opacity fades with less pen pressure, and it works a charm for doing the base coat of fur texture. :3
