Description
Lightning struck a Petroleum plant near downtown Kansas City, igniting the whole place. The fire burned brightly for days, sending black smoke into the sky, and raising the temperature for miles around.I drove around and took photos in over ten different places around town..

There's so much going on in this picture: the city skyline with the lightning caught in mid-strike along with the ghosting of the smoke from what I can only guess is the exposure you used and the way the warm and cool tones of the fire and the lightning color the smoke. It's really busy without being too busy. It makes it look like the apocalypse is come or something. I really like that ghosting of the smoke though. It gives it a really surreal feeling like a nightmare or hallucination or something.

that was so crazy. the fire, the tornadoes. what a crazy evening. it burned for such a long time, it was so strange.

Thanks! I think I could've tried to figure out a way to capture it better...but it was a pretty rare thing to get to see, regardless. It was a good night, chasing that fire around.
