Description Not completely happy with this picture because I feel like I have completely messed up on her lower body and made it too short. But I decided that it was about time that I introduced a character that strolled into my mind in November and has been a happy camper in my mind since: Normandy!

However don't be fooled by her cheerful disposition, she is not to be underestimated as she was a quite powerful force in Europe a few centuries back. Normandy is a headstrong character who loves asserting her strength towards others and has an uncompromising view of how a civilized world should work. Having some Viking blood in her, she is a powerful opponent who can get very violent. She was very harsh towards England when she invaded him, I think she might have been one of the biggest influences that drove England to become more vicious and unforgiving towards his adversaries.

To this day I think Normandy is still quite capable to get under England's skin and poke fun at him as she can proudly carry the title of having been one of the few who ever managed to invade England. (and within four years too)

There's a really good 2hr video on the Norman invasion called 1066 battle for middle earth. It shows the invasion from the Anglo-Saxon's perspective. You can find it on YouTube.

I'll go search for that video then and hopefully I'll find it. Well, first conquer my exam tomorrow but then I'll have a watch, it certainly sounds interesting! I have a short comic of sorts planned but it observes Norman invasion from a Celtic perspective, I'm almost done with sketching it.

Thank you so much!! At least at the beginning, I think Normandy and France moved differently and thought differently from each other, I think it is possible that Normandy might still survive today as a bitter and disillusioned province. Hmm, I'd have to read more on the Breton and Norman history but I have no doubt that it would be interesting.

Oh yeah, I think her braids are quite fun to draw, even if I kinda give them some life of their own and make them move in odd ways. A shame that her lower body is short but I do think she came out looking really good. Thank you!!

Oh man, yeah, Norman-Breton relations are sort of hilarious? Yet very interesting. They were big rivals, constantly fighting, but, when Normandy came and invaded Britain they invited the Duchy of Brittany to come help them! ....While at the same time the Breton-Norman war was going on. (Normandy also gave Brittany control over Cornwall, funnily enough.) The battle of hastings was also the West Saxons against Breton and Norman forces, intriguingly enough.

Basically I interpret them as Normady being tsuntsun for Brittany a lot LOL but, definitely read up. They're hilarious and interesting.

Well, the braids should have some life of their own! They're just that awesome, haha!

I did kind of come across some Norman-Breton interactions when I was studying the Norman invasion of Britain. ^^ I didn't know they had fought each other but I did know the Bretons had been invited to come along and help the Normans out. (that tidbit on Brittany being given control over Cornwall is very interesting though!)

Hmm, that actually makes me think of them seeing each other as rivals but actually being able to get along when they want to be. Did you know up until the Norman invasion, Wales had clung on to the name "Britannia" and the Anglo-Saxons and Scottish almost accepted the fact that the Welsh had a right to keeping the name? One of the contributing factors that led to Wales letting go of the name is that Brittany's Latin name resembled too much to Britannia in text and the Normans and everyone else was getting confused. So Wales eventually relinquished the name and accepted the name "Wallia" fully.

There is actually a short comic that is almost done that kind of describes Normandy's invasion of Britain and her effects on the island from a Celtic perspective. Been working on it since November but I'm close to the end!

Thank you, it is unreal how much I enjoy drawing the braids!
