Description Medecin Man

On paper with pastels and charcols.

Native american art is and will always be my first love. And I have more to do. This was the piece that got me into it. I love this because it speaks of the one person that a tribe needed to function. The medecine man... He was the carrier of the legends and myths he was the story teller. The healer and the spirit of the tribe. No tribe was complete without a medecine man... a shayman... He was the very soul of the tribe. And he was the chief counciler to the chief of the tribe. It was his council that would set the tribe on a war footing and he was the very spirit that would ride with them into battle. It was his blessing that rang in the ears of a warriors. So strong and calm and patient with his people. I wish that I could take credit for the piece but I am not the original artist of this piece. It was the one piece that inspired me to begin to draw that type of art, and I wish I knew the name of the artist... but I don't. And I held the picture for years before I drew it, and when I did, I captured the work itself and to this day... I still look it and remember the awe that it brought when I saw it for the first time... In all its glory. .. This is but a pale comparision of the original. Believe that !! Hahaha!! But I tried...
