"What was momma like?"

Zack leaned against the window of the train, his cheek pressed to the window pane in thought to answer his daughter's question. He shuffeled uncomfortabley at the memory of his best friend and 'mother' of the little girl sitting beside him, thinking of a way to put his answer. At a glance, the little girl beside him held his hand and looked up curiously, her short blonde hair hung to her shoulders and her green eyes staring up at Zack in the same fashion. She was his daughter, and his greatest possession. Pretty much the only thing his best friend had left behind for him that wouldn't fade away.

"Your mom... was... " he began, struggeling to ever start his explamation to his daughter. She blinked at him and tilted her head questioningly, just like her momma had. Zack breathed out a small laugh and closed his beautiful green eyes, the air from his breath pushing a little strand of black hair away form his mouth.

"Your mom was amazing... he was really kind... to everyone. Even those he didn't like... he was a wonderfull friend... always cared even if it was for the smallest thing. He refused to go anywhere when I was sick or having a bad day... he fixed up a horrible mission with a little punch in the arm and a hug too." he mummbeled, pausing every few words to catch a breath for a continuation.

"He was... he was...."

"Marry you?"

Zack nodded, a bright flushed tint on his cheeks and the rest of his skin too, nervous as any man could possibly be. The night sky sent a little wind their way and the stars shone down on them as the ocean lapped at the shore where Zack was standing. Cloud Strife turned around at him and blinked again, realizing what he had just been asked.

"Will you?" Zack pressed on in hope.

"... Yes." Cloud answered, putting his hands behind his back and smiling, "But.. promise me something first Zack."

Zack smiled and nodded, "Yes, anything. I'll promise you anything." he continued in a grin. The blonde took a step to him and gave him a tap on the nose. "Never leave me... okay?" he asked, his bright blue eyes staring Zack through with that amazingly bright shine. The raven man took up Cloud's hand and nodded, "Never."

Before Zack could realize it, he was letting salty tears slip from his bright green eyes, cheek still pressed to the window. A tug on his sleeve caused him to glance over at his daughter curiously as her hand wrapped around his finger. "Daddy?" she sniffed, copying him by beginning to cry too. Zack couldn't help but smile and laugh a little bit at his little girl's silly attempt.

"Why are you crying too?" he asked, using his thumb to run it across his girl's eyes softly, ridding them of salty solutions. The little 5-year-old looked up at Zack curiously as the raven used his shoulder to wipe his tears away. He smiled down at her and ran a hand into her hair, rubbing her little head with his strong hands that held incredible warmth.

Cloud... I think I've found my reason to live... Zack thought, Something you trusted me with... I couldn't quite keep my promise by letting you die but... Sarah... I want to keep her safe from the dangers of such a cruel and harsh world as I did you. You once said I was your wolf right? This wolf has something to protect now... I want to protect Sarah.

Sarah smiled at him happily as their train stopped and everyone started to disembark onto the cement of the station. Zack stood up to get Sarah her little backpack and get his fat suitcase. Zack pulled the cases down with little effort, soon getting off the train with Sarah holding his hand. He looked down at his daughter, smiling at her bright face.
