These were drawn with a pen as I waited for my sister's band practice to be over. I'm posting it because they turned out kinda cool, which almost never happens when I use only a pen. So hurrah for the Ninja Turtles, Splinter, and Klunk!Related content

Klunk is Michelangelo's cat. He was brought into the comics in Michelangelo #1 and also into the new show when they adapted that story into an episode (it was a Christmas one). I just love the idea of Mikey having a cat - I think it fits so well.

I really need to use them more. Right now TMNT are the only things that will turn out right when I use pen. Blegh.
Though I love ballpoint pens. They sketch like pencils, but you can't cheat and erase when you mess up.

Yeah, but I guess the nice thing about pen is -- your drawings end up looking so much stronger. The whole "confidence behind the line" bit gets lost when you keep on erasing. That's why sometimes the pencil drawing looks better before it gets erased and inked.
(Unless, of course, you are a professional clean-up artist.

God there's so much to love about these! I mean they're great as art in my mind, not just great as sketches. I love Don's look of concentration and how content Mikey looks with Klunk. By this point do I even need to point out how much I love their tails? More people need to draw the turtles with tails damnit!

Haha, was wondering when someone would notice that. I decided halfway through drawing Mikey that he was going to be sitting on the couch with Klunk... and his bandanna tails were waving. The fan was me cheating.

Thanks! I'm a big fan of Splinter having rat-like posture when he's fighting, like some of the little scribbles there.
Oh, and my sister is over my shoulder freaking out because she hero-worships tubas. XD She's a flute and wants to switch.

Well, if she's reading this:
Tuba is damn fun. It is heavy, esp the Sousaphone...I had a pad placed on mine for practice! But for Show, it was removed. If you go for Tuba, WOO! Good for you! Takes alot of hot air lemme tell ya! Today I probably couldn't play well, this was oh..back in 1988.
I began with flute in jr hi, didnt like it. Went to trombone...then trumpet - learned on a 100 year old cornet! then i played baritone, french horn as well. Then after a year we lost our one tuba (new high school back then, small band)...Miss Carp goes, "if anyone would like to take up Tuba..." My hand went right up without thinkng, and that was it. It's FUN!!!!!!!!!

Yes, pen is very tricky because once it's done, it's done. I love these little sketches and it's easy to see you have turtle on the brain syndrome. Don't worry, you're not alone. I suffer from that to.

It's all the trailer's fault. It pulled me out of my other stuff-that-I-draw and I keep doodling Turtles everywhere!
I also had finished painting myself a semi-Mirage style TMNT shirt earlier that morning, so the comic book look also stayed with me.

Oh Lord help me!! LOL! I know exactly what you mean because I was perfectly happy drawing my own thing and then the trailer came along....UUUnnnggghhh now I'm drawing turtles again. Speaking of which I've just finished a full body sketch and a few expressions of movie Mikey. Hmm, I'll have to post those when time allows.
