Description Once again I play with non-stardard, slightly more turtlish heads for TMNT... with actual snouts. But at the same time, the goal is appeal and relatability (and a head/nose structure that keeps wearing masks feasible.)

Heavy inspiration taken from some of the work of , of course. Because I like it ver' much.

The design kind of reminds me of the mystics in The Dark Crystal, but its nice to see something a little different

Oh, I also like how you show them with their masks off and around their necks. No one else does that, and it seems like something they might do, if they ever take them off.

That's something I picked up from the Image comic series of the TMNT... not regarded as "canon" but interesting nonetheless. It's not the first place they've worn their masks casually around their necks like that (I think) but they do it pretty often in those books. I liked it, so I use it.

I love the reference to Don and Mikey from the first movie. When Leo and Raph fight, they know to clear out and eat snacks!

Oh my... I REALLY love the way you draw the tortoises! They look just bloody wonderful! I ADORE the fact that you make them look more 'turtle'-like. It is simply such a PERFECT design, and my, I am SO impressed. Theirs expressions are perfect!
And I bloody love the turtle at the bottom in bed, watching telly! Not to mention Donatello right above. And all the turtles in the right side... they are gold... Heck! It's all wonderful! I LOVE these sketches! GOT to fave!

Hmm, this is very interesting. I like how you kept the TMNT looking more turtle-ish instead of human. It makes them look more realistic, instead of cartoony... I hope that makes sense.

My two favs have to be the ones down at the bottom. I just *love* how you took a scene from the first movie. ^_^ I'm not sure who's injured and lying on the bed, but the expression makes me want to give them a hug.

Yeah, I get ya. As "realistic" as TMNT can get, I s'pose.

And thanks! The poor wounded fella does look like he needs a hug or two.

I too like the interactions between Raph and Leo. And the two drawings of Don (esp the one where he's opening his mouth, looking down, sort of smiling. Dunno why I like that one in particular.

Maybe it's cuz it defines the head (snout) shape, even though it's a 3/4 view. Nice!

*laughs at the bottom right picture* Movie impersonations! XD

Kobb, have I ever mentioned how I love that you step out of the box so often? This style is one of my favorites. The Raph versus Leo one is awesome too..Heck, they all kick butt. =3 I loves you.

Great job.

Kobb In reply to Lunar-ninja [2007-05-19 05:41:16 +0000 UTC]

Well, it actually goes along with the Leo vs. Raph, haha. I had originally intended to have Leo in a frustrated pose, venting to himself... but Raph couldn't leave it be and I swear he took over my brain and made me draw him and his rebuttal. And the pork rind reference has surfaced in a couple of my doodles since the 2k7 movie came out... so it forced its way in there too.

I swear I'm not crazy. 8|

I LOVE your version of the pork rind scene. XD If only Jim Henson's animatronic heads had that much expression.

i really like the one of the injured turtle in bed, that is cute. I'd just wanna sit there with him, whoever it is and give him a hand if he needed something.

I think I had Mikey in mind when I did the injured one. Poor guy - sore and there's nothing good on the tube! A turtle just can't catch a break.

Love them!! Looks very original! I know it's pretty hard sometimes to come up with a design you like but you'll get there. I'd still like to see an animated TMNT film from you and I have a feeling that you'll do it some day.

It's still in need of refining, but at last I'm headed in the right direction. Thanks, dude.

I've missed it too. And it's a lot more fun for me to play around with ideas and work out things instead of just staying with the same old thing anyways.

Izzat so? Heh, thanks! And agreed - while I still think the perfect Turtles movie is yet to be made, this most recent one did get a lot of things right.

RedRodent In reply to Kobb [2007-05-19 16:17:55 +0000 UTC]

Haha Well I'm pretty much oblivious to what the perfect one would be like, since I never really watched TMNT, so... Whatever you say

I believe you may have accomplished what you were aiming for! I adore the more turtly appeal and how you're still keeping them a little more "cartoony" while giving them that realistic affect - really helps people to see how their "reality" is more of a possiblity.

Very nice indeed ;D
