I see the defender and goalie poles are connected via some kind of piping... Haven't seen that before. What is that for?

The piping is just there so that people aren't surprised by the bar holding the players going far out and potentially hitting someone's leg while playing.

They kept doing "pissettes" and counting "demis" as goals. Basically there are no rules in foosball for anyone who's not French
And yes indeed, that table was strange, it had 13 players on each team... The 2 extra ones on each sides of the goalie.
