Description Just finished this the other day. I wanted to share with you fellow GT fans. Personaly I think it's one of my best!! I like the look on her face, The combination of fear and confusion.

To be honest, this has always been my favorite part of any GT encounter. The first "pick up" that first touch or grip or grasp. It's that split second before that I love. Like this moment right here. Is the giant a villian or a hero? How will she be held? In a grip? or cupped gently? In this moment you hold your breath, and hear your heart beating loudly and forcfully inside your chest just wondering or visulizing "What is going to happen next?" That my friends is up to your imagination.

Love it. Also my fav part of a GT encounter. as a writer I am always kind of let down when I start to read a promising story and this moment is basicly ignored or summed up in one boring sentence like "He snatched her up". Beautiful pic.

I'm wondering if you'd be willing to be the artist in a comic series I want to do. It takes place fifty years later from Secret world of Arrietty with different characters. So it turns out that Sho was being subjected to seires of Tests by two godlike figures that I have called (with a lack of imagination) the Testmakers. He failed the second one, and now two Test subjects later, we have Mark Traytantom (his last name is an anagram of my nickname and last name) meeting Lula Clunk because she fell into his messenger bag just before he went to work.

The First Test regards how the subject reacts to meeting a Borrower. If they do not kill or capture them, they move on to the second, which is about how they'd react to a threat to their little friends. The Final Test, invoked by averting the threat BEFORE it comes to pass (which is wh Sho failed), takes place in an alternate universe the Testmakers pull the two into. I'd say more, but I don't want to spoil it.

(Must be honest, I asked Kindii first, but she said she doesn't do comics.)

I absolutely love GT stuff. ^^ I'd have to say, I think the giant should be a good one. I find the gentle GT encounters very touching, especially when a giant softly touches the tiny to show the tiny he/she has no need to fear. Then it really grabs my heart when the giant holds the tiny in the palm of his/her hand to show the tiny he/she can put in trust. Love the drawing. You did an excellent job on it.

You're welcome. ^^ Thanks for agreeing. I just can't help, but to feel happy when I read stories and look at art about gentle giants. I even write some stories myself about them and I get a warm, fuzzy feeling inside as I write my stories. Sometimes I even picture myself as the tiny in the hand of the giant, a feeling of happiness, protection and calming as I would gaze into the giant's comforting eyes. Just thinking about it makes me me feel so relaxed.

Doesn't it? I am the same exact way. There is a saftey that cannot be described except with the mental image of a gentle protective giant. Whenever I have a hard time falling asleep, I put myself into that mind set and soon I'm out like a light.

Gotta love that comforting feeling. This is a little embarrassing of me to say, but I'll say it anyway, I'm a SonAmy fan and since I love that couple so much I've started a GT story focused on them. You know who Mephiles is right? (Sonic the Hedgehog 06, bad guy who looks like Shadow) Even if you're not a Sonic fan would you tell me what you think of this idea? Well, I obviously made him the instant villian and he teamed up with Eggman for world domination. Though Mephiles figures that if he wants to take over and/or destroy the world quickly why not go for the Savior of Earth, Sonic the Hedgehog? He also convinces Eggman to inject Sonic with a liquid that will turn him into a giant and later on slowly becoming more evil (I don't know whether making his size permanent or not). Now for the happy upside part. ^_^ Sonic becomes a non-evil 150 foot tall giant and at this point in time he and Amy has been going out for a bit, but haven't actually gone out on a date. He's nervous of how Amy would react to his new size, but instead of being afraid, Amy never felt more protected and loved in her life. Being held in the palm of her hero/boyfriend gives her the same feeling that you and I get. ^_^ Sonic doesn't know how long he will stay the size he is, but he decides to use it to every advantage he has to prove his love to Amy. Like, taking her to every place that she would like to go, regardless of the distance. He would even run across oceans, despite his hate for water just so he can see her happy. Little do they know Sonic's pure heart slowly becomes consumed by evil and the fate of the Earth will fall to its hero...
So, what do you think? ^_^

Good impact value. Her expression is really clear, and the detailing work is superb. You might consider adding a mild background, or at least some details to the surface she's resting on. Some shadow work would help too, such as a shadow cast by the hand/arm over her, or just encroaching on her feet. Nicely done overall.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

KristineButterfly In reply to zen4life [2011-02-18 14:09:11 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I debated for a long time about doing a background or stippeling the smllest ammount of shadding underneath her for the surface she is on. But I wanted the viewer's attention to be on the moment on the action, not the picture as a whole. I'm afraid that adding any surface details or background would clutter up the image and take away from what I want the focus to be on. But thank you for the comments! Brainstorming is half the fun with artist!
