Background: Into her 44th year in Starfleet, since starting off as a young 28 year old Ensign in 2189; M'Lara's lived a good long life travelling in space and seeing the stars, all in the name of her adopted human mother, the late Admiral Marceline "Marcy" Roberts - whom she in turn styled her own hair after in her honour. And that Marcy inspired hairdo would also pass on to future descendants such as M'Latt and M'Laa, as a sort of family heirloom. Sure, she wasn't related by blood, but she'd at-least try to carr on the legacy, as the last of the Roberts'. And, even though she's over 70 during the 2230s, her longer lifespan helps in a way that she doesn't look a day over 40. At this time, she captains the Kelvin-type Class Starfleet vessel, U.S.S. Aquanaut, NCC-0518, taking after her late foster mother and exploring the galaxy, with full eagerness in her Caitian veins. And her crew, which mostly consists of humans, follows her orders without question - knowing the famous role both her foster mother and Captain Jonathan Archer played in the formation of the United Federation of Planets (UFP) back in 2161. So, in a way, M'Lara was quite famous as well. In an alternate universe, she received word that the sister ship U.S.S. Kelvin, NCC-0514, was destroyed near the Klingon border, bu an unstoppable and unknown force. Her 42 year old daughter, Lieutenant Commander M'Latt, was onboard the Kelvin at this point, and she barely survived at the cost of her right leg - a fate shared by M'Lara's foster mother, during her final battle, 61 years ago prior. Very tragic, to say the least.

Here's an older version of the Caitian foster daughter for my Star Trek character modelled after my mascot character, Marcy Johnston, also created by me: www.deviantart.com/krytenmarkg… (her overall design having been updated back in 30/8/20), herself now being a fully grown Captain of her own starship; the U.S.S. Aquanaut, NCC-0518 - with this year and particular stardate, 2233-04, being the pivotol moment in which an alternate universe (the Kelvin Timeline, from the 2009 movie) is created by the time travelling future advanced Romulan mining vessel, the Nerada, by destroying the sister ship U.S.S. Kelvin, NCC-0514 - as both her daughter M'Latt, and a newly born James T. Kirk, manage to escape and survive. And, back in the good ol' Prime Timeline, everything remains nice and dandy for all of them.

Also, that particular Starfleet uniform from the 2230s is pretty fun to draw, especially in the Command blue division. ^.^
